So much fun, so much happiness and play. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend the summer home with my children. But this morning it was time to say goodbye to summer good-times with the first day of school for Sweet Pea, and the last year of no back to school for Boober.<br />
<br />
We spent so much time out and about this summer that getting dolls finished was . . . well, slow going. But I did get 2 more done, and here they are for your enjoyment!<br />
<br />
Opal - a 10" jointed Waldorf doll.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi61rbOJBV3MGAa7IME7zi7LViPWp2j-44j9suXXTtC_YjytGoeTw9cf4cV-XF5nCl0MFOGLnfwuL_KbA9oB96vnZuwX-QJWQaHByepr6yTZnZ0UTybAilHwB0Rbmg09x2Zh9QEi41glYU3/s1600/IMG_5632.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi61rbOJBV3MGAa7IME7zi7LViPWp2j-44j9suXXTtC_YjytGoeTw9cf4cV-XF5nCl0MFOGLnfwuL_KbA9oB96vnZuwX-QJWQaHByepr6yTZnZ0UTybAilHwB0Rbmg09x2Zh9QEi41glYU3/s320/IMG_5632.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Such a sweetheart. I love the flutter sleeves on her tunic top. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii1Tc1Y3yast2igqPvlnaRNLOzSNUfmpU2fFT41vNsUDVo1hLv48L2SL4U1VohzQ7o-r0QvW2RoXg1LueN_-Uiteb8jA99YTw14rwu5y4QjX3M11elb59eWOJqimNmyz5EEomT1vhifTUm/s1600/IMG_5639.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii1Tc1Y3yast2igqPvlnaRNLOzSNUfmpU2fFT41vNsUDVo1hLv48L2SL4U1VohzQ7o-r0QvW2RoXg1LueN_-Uiteb8jA99YTw14rwu5y4QjX3M11elb59eWOJqimNmyz5EEomT1vhifTUm/s320/IMG_5639.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Opal's fabulous hair has been in reserve for a long time now, waiting for just the right doll to come along. She finally did!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7yZZd1BUdY8Hf0RaY6La6Tzhq68s2rN7vEL9GQdC6iidKL-xOuDy4k8z68wC9mXveDJN9OUv_0Bx-dBI2jU53AafqqyNFPUUymgCXvnQFaOgz0S6yU_pO2gLT57OJZiJajr8kIAhX3q8A/s1600/IMG_5636.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7yZZd1BUdY8Hf0RaY6La6Tzhq68s2rN7vEL9GQdC6iidKL-xOuDy4k8z68wC9mXveDJN9OUv_0Bx-dBI2jU53AafqqyNFPUUymgCXvnQFaOgz0S6yU_pO2gLT57OJZiJajr8kIAhX3q8A/s320/IMG_5636.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
I really hope Opal and her child are very best friends.<br />
<br />
I also made this little one over the summer: Mackenzie.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4mT97BpROAbClD_qqlVGkJFnXu38mpQDNsoke7tHPcalaf9Sh6E6qaiK3yTMHnSJ4xap9t8_7jTSiP6LkV86gqvWqN14BZpHXalP6yG3df3AfbM86Eu-p7OwsnNhYBQzKTKJY4AKp1Wtq/s1600/IMG_5618.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4mT97BpROAbClD_qqlVGkJFnXu38mpQDNsoke7tHPcalaf9Sh6E6qaiK3yTMHnSJ4xap9t8_7jTSiP6LkV86gqvWqN14BZpHXalP6yG3df3AfbM86Eu-p7OwsnNhYBQzKTKJY4AKp1Wtq/s320/IMG_5618.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Mackenzie is a 14" jointed baby doll, made from a pattern by Cutest Creations. This little one is made with sunny skin, and chocolate brown TLS hair. With the sole exception of plastic jointing buttons inside the arms and legs, the fibres on this doll are entirely natural.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_XPB79197fAnTyAGey7heP5ZSGkPSdHPeIGKVjo9GS6ESs00Z3bcHnxyQgomScrPtX_WKjaRI8yVk021X9ZQh3B3jJq2U3zdPpBgoTLihwpqZ5zf3OSCOVQHkqAvqGYT7TINx9HMXB7Qh/s1600/IMG_5608.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_XPB79197fAnTyAGey7heP5ZSGkPSdHPeIGKVjo9GS6ESs00Z3bcHnxyQgomScrPtX_WKjaRI8yVk021X9ZQh3B3jJq2U3zdPpBgoTLihwpqZ5zf3OSCOVQHkqAvqGYT7TINx9HMXB7Qh/s320/IMG_5608.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
I absolutlely loved making this doll. Every step of the process was thrilling. I couldn't wait to put it all together and see the final product. It's nice when I feel like I'm just as excited about a doll as the person who ordered it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid70FkirZHp6GSawdlwbQMEasZ1ErGgR3kgbxqLp11P60tRx98I2a5vigglclujHcXb_abZvb_JCj63yUVU9Vp3dBoxxxgvX8ADxlWFfong3pLnvRbVHI9mSgZpVF5tIarrjSHBf0q32ab/s1600/IMG_5606.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid70FkirZHp6GSawdlwbQMEasZ1ErGgR3kgbxqLp11P60tRx98I2a5vigglclujHcXb_abZvb_JCj63yUVU9Vp3dBoxxxgvX8ADxlWFfong3pLnvRbVHI9mSgZpVF5tIarrjSHBf0q32ab/s320/IMG_5606.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Babies are a lot of work, but I really look forward to making a whole bunch of them!<br />

We've had a few weeks of heat and humidity, but also long stretches of beautiful doll-making weather. We've played outside, we've watched movies, we've done crafts . . . and I've made a few more dolls.<br />
<br />
First up is Robbie.<br />
Robbie arrived at his new home last week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh15Cyc82_CSYeSGe7GOl19SLgKpVrLo9KfSF1QlN1xWxkO7izQ_pJFm6Pll2HejYCDs_eO3PUDKI6graoXlmESe-odDfSAbhjtlctFaHKk0SN_Ly5yiF-980XJu-YxGQNBCm5FSNRZuBeD/s1600/IMG_5575.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh15Cyc82_CSYeSGe7GOl19SLgKpVrLo9KfSF1QlN1xWxkO7izQ_pJFm6Pll2HejYCDs_eO3PUDKI6graoXlmESe-odDfSAbhjtlctFaHKk0SN_Ly5yiF-980XJu-YxGQNBCm5FSNRZuBeD/s320/IMG_5575.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
He's already well loved by his child, who has been engaging in some baby wearing, and has his mommy nurse Robbie at bedtime. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcBfaVDeijdgANTPSbpXrhCkhyJ1QJPDCYAef-sBnYBs_qjRN7hpSb_u0IyYqmndcyhKN3nBDEx4jUKtAKD5R8XVeFW4wYcBsvyRF9QaegYCmUh5YCRSH8ZusledTF47NJGeAJjCMG-koH/s1600/IMG_5579.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcBfaVDeijdgANTPSbpXrhCkhyJ1QJPDCYAef-sBnYBs_qjRN7hpSb_u0IyYqmndcyhKN3nBDEx4jUKtAKD5R8XVeFW4wYcBsvyRF9QaegYCmUh5YCRSH8ZusledTF47NJGeAJjCMG-koH/s320/IMG_5579.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Robbie is a 14" traditional style Waldorf doll . He has fair skin.<br />
<br />
Then there was Nathan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5P2UHipCoSOZAmi2RzV5zriu4bztlfSoVEj-olD1vyWxGADxtZ1XyH3raSmmlhSn-TZOc-OzTsMFAHDUrrxfFzvLgyQZIQJ-SxwM0EJP-nns3FBbwD1SKiBFOuy85BCwRZabdSvKBT4Cv/s1600/IMG_5603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5P2UHipCoSOZAmi2RzV5zriu4bztlfSoVEj-olD1vyWxGADxtZ1XyH3raSmmlhSn-TZOc-OzTsMFAHDUrrxfFzvLgyQZIQJ-SxwM0EJP-nns3FBbwD1SKiBFOuy85BCwRZabdSvKBT4Cv/s320/IMG_5603.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Nathan is a 10" traditional style waldorf doll. He climbed into his box this morning and headed off for Australia. He's going to see kangaroos, koalas, and parrots!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYqmXlCRa_vgoZzwWfzQVSq77i-VGpC-NstCx-fn65EfJFFagaalVi8yMFf8YB71g_6DiMqlNlj3ziE7uUjeG4zBbXxn4Mhq8DDU5QTcyYoXy-_HEZSWeOkFHyRax2aWcmfwEvQkke4gby/s1600/IMG_5593.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYqmXlCRa_vgoZzwWfzQVSq77i-VGpC-NstCx-fn65EfJFFagaalVi8yMFf8YB71g_6DiMqlNlj3ziE7uUjeG4zBbXxn4Mhq8DDU5QTcyYoXy-_HEZSWeOkFHyRax2aWcmfwEvQkke4gby/s320/IMG_5593.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Nathan's family are fans of non-traditional colours - creating Nathan and his clothing was a really fun, riotous process. I thoroughly enjoyed it!<br />

First, there was my daughter's fifth birthday, and a last-minute party we had to pull together.Then, I was rail roaded into full time day shifts at my job for 2.5 weeks, so that really threw a wrench into the doll-making works. By the time I came home from a full day of office work, I wasn't feeling fun or creative at all. I had forgotten just how rough a full-time day shift can be. Part time afternoons might be taxing, but at least I get a little space from the office!<br />
<br />My stint as an office worker made me really appreciate the opportunity I have as a part-time worker/stay at home mom/hand-made entrepreneur. This is so much better!<br />
<br />
I did manage to get 2 dolls done so far this month. I'm starting another one today.<br />
<br />
First off, Kaelin:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUyKUBd8c-xFHklBE6I39VKE8cJL07jhm6j7yPfrJZGNJL59bc7XqLO9mHMnMQFhG9eo-S0zvuPmHNrF04pCU5ViH9XxBrX1XPQsDK8BZ4dwEIT1UCwGuz4r4IcM08kufrcc6A8667ZeE3/s1600/IMG_5531.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUyKUBd8c-xFHklBE6I39VKE8cJL07jhm6j7yPfrJZGNJL59bc7XqLO9mHMnMQFhG9eo-S0zvuPmHNrF04pCU5ViH9XxBrX1XPQsDK8BZ4dwEIT1UCwGuz4r4IcM08kufrcc6A8667ZeE3/s320/IMG_5531.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio4icjLT9BhUWHKnnF4hf787VLa1davv3nQaht-6ajWxv3pUbgZ-S8myvHkkDLnf_F5yluGaiue1bj4MtesgihS4n1sGF3CDVnJpHKdB_15Xk8s2kFNmWvZALXnU_J4GIfUIQt6BGWKo6f/s1600/IMG_5528.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio4icjLT9BhUWHKnnF4hf787VLa1davv3nQaht-6ajWxv3pUbgZ-S8myvHkkDLnf_F5yluGaiue1bj4MtesgihS4n1sGF3CDVnJpHKdB_15Xk8s2kFNmWvZALXnU_J4GIfUIQt6BGWKo6f/s320/IMG_5528.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
A 10" jointed custom order, Kaelin was sent off to the same household as Pippa! She's colourful, fun, and slightly silly in her sparkly purple pants.<br />
<br />
Then I did up Kristine - Krissy for short:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuD-j3KCHdmUP6fxVq-w7LJBBxHMdQbru9ap12GMCrpnIrxD5GQUtQ_laCkBL8d888MtCSauNw_6WZY5yM3w9e-tzzz6Xr2RIOH0aQXWZ_mqJ8Ll_ohfT3PLNSYBw2T6s5yeVQBWNmMVOX/s1600/IMG_5567.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuD-j3KCHdmUP6fxVq-w7LJBBxHMdQbru9ap12GMCrpnIrxD5GQUtQ_laCkBL8d888MtCSauNw_6WZY5yM3w9e-tzzz6Xr2RIOH0aQXWZ_mqJ8Ll_ohfT3PLNSYBw2T6s5yeVQBWNmMVOX/s320/IMG_5567.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMbZfYFT3rG5pIJGCXjhWrqvK76JFnGCm_xdUI5ydpuqIxMZWyYIVu_SdnG-bnkmS4GUNL4thtwBg7Mc7qBnsAdS8BBPVQxqRojrDXvt_AySL58p4t8uPTXG6VMHBVJ9GRBGANYbRziEhD/s1600/IMG_5541.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh23TrAYsm9Q6daSCR5Se9kXPh510h4H07TTKpXaDyfdWHMblsngssR5vsY90pCiVBE9w5VhaN_iAIjerg5LwfpgWa4pUVHGvpQEOlI9px6MKbO3uis-5mHAdjqYkjnl4_gdz-Glmp6KKjl/s1600/IMG_5553.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh23TrAYsm9Q6daSCR5Se9kXPh510h4H07TTKpXaDyfdWHMblsngssR5vsY90pCiVBE9w5VhaN_iAIjerg5LwfpgWa4pUVHGvpQEOlI9px6MKbO3uis-5mHAdjqYkjnl4_gdz-Glmp6KKjl/s320/IMG_5553.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
She's a 14" custom order. She's on her way home now, and will be waiting to delight someone for her birthday!<br />
<br />
I know it seems early, but it's already time to start thinking of winter holiday orders. Christmas and Hanukkah are just a few months away! I already have 2 orders for December. If you're thinking of a special toy for the winter season, you may want to start that ball rolling. <br />
<br />Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-1089985638034715392013-06-28T07:46:00.004-04:002013-06-28T07:50:07.359-04:00Catching up. For a while there, life was moving pretty fast. I missed posting some dolls!<br />
<br />

<br />
Ella - another 10" jointed doll. She was a custom order, but her intended family suffered an unexpected blow. They weren't able to bring her home. Fortunately, Ella was a great fit for another child, and she has found a loving family.<br />

<br />
Pippa - a 10" jointed. I'm particularly fond of this one. I think she's among my best work. <br />
She is meant to be a very princessy doll, but not a princess. Her belt and un-crown can be worn as bracelets by her child. What's your bet they're lost? I know my daughter would lose them in a week. ;)<br />

And there is Susie - a 10" jointed. I adore her rainbow-y hair. It's bright daisy yarn from Odalee Fibers. LOVE! And the bug dress? Dying over here!<br />

<br />
I'm so pleased that this lovely little doll has a new home, and will be played with!<br />
Christina, Becky is on her way.<br />
<br />
Thanks everyone for your entries! I have hidden entries on the giveaway post to protect your contact info, everyone. Spam sucks.<br />
<br />
The bunny will be uploaded to the Etsy shop very soon. <br />
Today, June 21, 2013, marks the third birthday of Making Friends. Three years of making adorable toys, delighting children and parents, and (best of all) working with some of the most incredible customers I could ever hope for.<br />
<br />
In keeping with tradition, a birthday for Making Friends means a giveaway! As you all know, I've been grappling with the decision -- what to give away? I made a choice of sorts -- and this is it:<br />
<br />
The 2013 Making Friends giveaway is . . . . .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOYC5If9xUoG_RqstQnI-f2TTz9K3kstr05lmeyr5QZz1n5bOjpbFcZMweJY0Ww7NfgoeCnSRUK8VUNJMseF4-n6PViUXCrDNIgXHZBCPOiIxDjpangDtrR68fEwiMdi7xbeFwKlryBKM1/s1600/IMG_5392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOYC5If9xUoG_RqstQnI-f2TTz9K3kstr05lmeyr5QZz1n5bOjpbFcZMweJY0Ww7NfgoeCnSRUK8VUNJMseF4-n6PViUXCrDNIgXHZBCPOiIxDjpangDtrR68fEwiMdi7xbeFwKlryBKM1/s320/IMG_5392.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
One of these guys. Yeah, I kind of flaked out on making a choice.<br />
<br />
Becky, you all know. 10" jointed Waldorf doll, fair skin, Tibetan lamb wig.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Stuffed with clean, carded wool, dressed in cotton, Becky is an all-natural toy. She's sturdy and crafted to last many, many years. She's been sitting around here for quite a while now, waiting to be adopted and meet her new best friend. <br />

<br />
The other options are:<br />
<br />
This dragon right here --<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKHZDc1PZgkr9L33q-L4bAu1lTZIDMEZxQyIiMfQzpKc-JFHb3eMf_TIHXSK18OoUTckqdL6SfiMrHYXf_9MhWuUff_gSkr_aWHjWmBBsa61Q4cUoUcKsBgGT4_MDZmsbtESclUv8HA80Y/s1600/IMG_5396.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKHZDc1PZgkr9L33q-L4bAu1lTZIDMEZxQyIiMfQzpKc-JFHb3eMf_TIHXSK18OoUTckqdL6SfiMrHYXf_9MhWuUff_gSkr_aWHjWmBBsa61Q4cUoUcKsBgGT4_MDZmsbtESclUv8HA80Y/s320/IMG_5396.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
He seems like a bit of a shy guy. He keeps wrapping his wings around himself like a security blanket. But then, he was really just finished this morning, so maybe he needs time to warm up to us?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj15jEefHVSzfZpi9b3aJeUKmOMe0Y3omfZCzm4UHlArtLqUfLUt4BpaQmEMbvo0RCrrWncK2I36TkPcnszkzYRSpurqz4VIzLqAtCPKU-o58eYt62iN3Js4hOCqcYNqKEG8KiaI2SND5l/s1600/IMG_5399.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj15jEefHVSzfZpi9b3aJeUKmOMe0Y3omfZCzm4UHlArtLqUfLUt4BpaQmEMbvo0RCrrWncK2I36TkPcnszkzYRSpurqz4VIzLqAtCPKU-o58eYt62iN3Js4hOCqcYNqKEG8KiaI2SND5l/s320/IMG_5399.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
He's made with polyester fleece, filled with polyester, and due to small parts and safety eyes, should be chaperoned if he's given to a young child.<br />
Pattern purchased from DIYFluffies. <br />
<br />
<br />
And the final option --<br />
This little bunny.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDX1Kxf3rJewnECkBRKqGn4AjKCR58anTojDDCW9U3rrS6xk9odfO8NqC4q-F9UXCFJ-fJzC6zT0k-CDRZiTur8bgXrM4vC0Flvp8VQayQEyKM4CQi12IhGLb3bz7Cbpu8eQttQqRkM79E/s1600/IMG_5400.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDX1Kxf3rJewnECkBRKqGn4AjKCR58anTojDDCW9U3rrS6xk9odfO8NqC4q-F9UXCFJ-fJzC6zT0k-CDRZiTur8bgXrM4vC0Flvp8VQayQEyKM4CQi12IhGLb3bz7Cbpu8eQttQqRkM79E/s320/IMG_5400.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
The softest stuffed animal I've ever met! His 'fur' is shaggy minky, his ear lining and foot pads are minky. He is stuffed with clean, carded wool. While he's not an all-natural toy, his stuffing will warm to the touch, and he has a bit of extra heft to him. These are really solid little bunnies!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I tried something new with this guy and did nylon joints instead of string. His jointing is extra solid! He's super cute and would make a great companion for anyone, young or less young.<br />
Pattern credit goes to Cutest Creations. <br />

don't break my heart! I will be checking that the

disqualification. That's just cheating. </li>
<li>To enter, leave the following via comment: Your choice of prize, <b>and
a contact for yourself </b>- either email or Etsy. Please keep in mind that
while you CAN comment anonymously,<b> I will need a way to contact you</b>. Per page terms of use, I cannot contact you via Facebook. It's just not allowed. Some folks have been having difficulty with comments. I've done some reading -- apparently if you try a different browser, you may have some luck. Failing that, send me an email (makingfriendsdolls@gmail.com) and I'll enter for you. </li>
<li>Winner will be selected via random number generator at noon EDT on
June 25th, and contacted immediately. They will then have 48 hours to
respond, or the prize will be passed on to a new winner.</li>
</ul>
Good luck, everyone, and thanks for another amazing, successful, overwhelmingly incredible year! <br />

I see all of you are just as good at making final decisions as I am. Hurray for us!<br />
<br />
I suppose that's not really fair to say. Some of you are quite good at making decisions. It's just that we kind of failed to reach a consensus. We did, however, eliminate the sheep as an option - that's progress, I suppose.<br />
<br />
With only three choices, I was able to arrive at a final decision. Would you like to know what I've decided? You'll have to keep an eye on this blog! Unveil will be either tomorrow or Friday. Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-86564111028577710392013-06-17T11:02:00.001-04:002013-06-17T11:02:28.397-04:00Avaleigh & AliceSometimes, people ask me to make things that aren't in my normal repertoire. Sometimes those requests work out REALLY well.<br />
A while back, I was asked to make a bunny from Cutest Creations' <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/120543442/pdf-pattern-waldorf-wabbit?ref=shop_home_active" target="_blank">Waldorf Wabbit</a> pattern. <br />
<br />I did. This was the result:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU3mLPerjZ1JsMIevIRDzL7tPQKuIifJ_BVO_n0Y2YJCnel2cC3vuX8ZQNyzGETYZgug4Ba-6j3KXtXW1iHBwnL3Od44mK8gAenmQgnJsTNNw_fiozUc8L7CGbBeX2SXmO8ANxZaiUgGLT/s1600/IMG_5081.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU3mLPerjZ1JsMIevIRDzL7tPQKuIifJ_BVO_n0Y2YJCnel2cC3vuX8ZQNyzGETYZgug4Ba-6j3KXtXW1iHBwnL3Od44mK8gAenmQgnJsTNNw_fiozUc8L7CGbBeX2SXmO8ANxZaiUgGLT/s320/IMG_5081.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Alice. Made with shaggy minky, stuffed with wool, weighted with glass pellets. Her ears and foot soles were made from a "Guess How Much I Love You" knit that the momma who ordered Alice sent me. It was sent in the form of a dress that the little girl getting Alice was close to outgrowing. Momma wanted to keep the dress around forever and ever. Now she can, in a way. <br />
<br />
Alice was so lovely that I was soon asked to make another, smaller bunny for a different customer. I just finished Avaleigh yesterday. She shipped this morning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgfAKrq103Fx7tu9oXVyjJAgbU3gkIpHfu8UopUOkNj4LKMrScNx_qCh1N9jIB90TiKmhe7lVkWd9MFBUn2g-CRxHIoC644xKVMjaSoTy_tS6rFtqICH8QtJ6BZeTT9nRqhx6tLIc19q6B/s1600/IMG_5384.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgfAKrq103Fx7tu9oXVyjJAgbU3gkIpHfu8UopUOkNj4LKMrScNx_qCh1N9jIB90TiKmhe7lVkWd9MFBUn2g-CRxHIoC644xKVMjaSoTy_tS6rFtqICH8QtJ6BZeTT9nRqhx6tLIc19q6B/s320/IMG_5384.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
OMG for cute. Love the big eyes! And her popsicles and ice cream cones dress? Squee!! <br />
Initially Avaleigh was meant to be made from a very shaggy minky. Unfortunately, the pile was overwhelming and it just couldn't work. Thank goodness for flexibility - this final look is something I can really be proud of!<br />

For the Making Friends Giveaway 2013, the choices are as follows:<br />
<br />
A doll. In fact, this doll right here:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnLuZvT2p8RQ1yw6hVryCrhrcEWXk1w1EjC3zvPEKU9UiLj8uRL7oCZeUujn7-JbaeY6jdLK8L8nihu56EZvERkaRW7F4koJ4nLD1c2XgWfRo8_1RdPGPbwHV7hjk3IMBNH_96OxOY82On/s1600/IMG_4205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnLuZvT2p8RQ1yw6hVryCrhrcEWXk1w1EjC3zvPEKU9UiLj8uRL7oCZeUujn7-JbaeY6jdLK8L8nihu56EZvERkaRW7F4koJ4nLD1c2XgWfRo8_1RdPGPbwHV7hjk3IMBNH_96OxOY82On/s320/IMG_4205.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
This is Becky, who has been waiting for a home, and a child to love for a long, long time now. If her winner wants her to be a boy, I can change her hair and clothes out.<br />
<br />
A dragon. It will probably be different colours, but from this pattern:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQpYKv2EbBurC-684GgMBxsCF1LBREZAPm8D9F2wbqY-JHRdIDb_GiRjRwyDFESMYnvdMIZWIVp4JgVE_xiU8J9czolFmZ3-wBeQ0pBthSAW4H2LJKcHGTeWx20coPN9kmBFPRci7aeIUH/s1600/IMG_4363.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQpYKv2EbBurC-684GgMBxsCF1LBREZAPm8D9F2wbqY-JHRdIDb_GiRjRwyDFESMYnvdMIZWIVp4JgVE_xiU8J9czolFmZ3-wBeQ0pBthSAW4H2LJKcHGTeWx20coPN9kmBFPRci7aeIUH/s320/IMG_4363.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
A lamb. Again, different colours, but here's a visual reminder:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDVcy8UFJEOCYR6k5NanHAXMXyuF43jm2eC2N-u0nkWT-sZ4g1GSS45eR_SBt3mrvdYk1ms9lwXYmiGRhzq9f65c4YuAh3RuXdb5e2HvIBYg54LyeETfoXcvsByrguDHL63bFzVcDJXD5H/s1600/IMG_3949.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDVcy8UFJEOCYR6k5NanHAXMXyuF43jm2eC2N-u0nkWT-sZ4g1GSS45eR_SBt3mrvdYk1ms9lwXYmiGRhzq9f65c4YuAh3RuXdb5e2HvIBYg54LyeETfoXcvsByrguDHL63bFzVcDJXD5H/s320/IMG_3949.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Or, a bunny. Not this exact bunny, but one like it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK3jnKclOKYG5TCEfkULj2Zh4T4pZi0QpmU9QzU9pfjNVcN6CueU8UEnEMgVd9H48hBohEoGCBuq06EBByX0OgeNzPp1a0hyphenhyphen3v5rI2d6TNT7dlSTtjRwCIFn9iZ0QgKtQftfTjD34sx-jO/s1600/IMG_5084.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK3jnKclOKYG5TCEfkULj2Zh4T4pZi0QpmU9QzU9pfjNVcN6CueU8UEnEMgVd9H48hBohEoGCBuq06EBByX0OgeNzPp1a0hyphenhyphen3v5rI2d6TNT7dlSTtjRwCIFn9iZ0QgKtQftfTjD34sx-jO/s320/IMG_5084.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Help me out. Choose just one (I know it's hard) and leave your choice in the comments. I'll be eternally grateful. Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-48510368001202006342013-06-10T13:30:00.001-04:002013-06-10T13:30:33.927-04:00Oops. I have definitely been falling behind in the blogging world. Sorry! Life is crazy and hectic, and I'm doing my best just to stay on top of things, and above all to hang out with, and really appreciate my littles. Sweet Pea has just 5 days of school left this year. It's so hard to believe! She's very nearly reading, she can ALMOST tie her shoes, and (worst of all!!) she has <b><i>four loose teeth!!</i></b> She'll be five years old in just under a month. She is astonishing, and beautiful, and capable, and so very tall! Boober is 2.5. He is toilet trained (well, day trained, anyway), he makes sentences with lots of words, he tries very hard to do 24 piece puzzles but can't quite get there, and is convinced that he is a big boy, and can do everything his own self!! He is determined, so skinny his pants won't stay up (no matter what size I try!), fearless, and his smile is the brightest thing I've ever seen. I love knowing these little individuals.<br />
<br />
But we're not here to catch up on my littles, now are we? No. We are here to prepare for the third annual Making Friends giveaway!<br />
I haven't made any final decisions just yet.<br />
I was thinking perhaps a doll? But then maybe a dragon? Or the sheep are pretty cute too . . . . Maybe some doll clothes? Or a gift certificate for the shop?<br />
<br />
What do you think? What would you like to see for the giveaway this year?Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-74053003861330334572013-03-08T11:03:00.001-05:002013-03-08T11:03:11.952-05:00More Dolls!Check this pretty lady out!<br />

<br />
This was my 62nd Waldorf doll. Every so often I count them all up. She's arrived at her new home, and is hanging out, waiting for a birthday.<br />
<br />
And then this little one happened -- a 10" custom order.<br />

<br />
<br />
I'm just about done with the queued dolls for the spring -- soon I'm hoping to put some lambs, monkeys and mermaids in the shop!<br />

Sure it can be demanding and challenging, but that's a great big part of the fun. The best part, though, is working closely with some really awesome people to bring dream dolls to life. I recently had the opportunity to work very closely with an Alaskan mom to bring her two daughters some really fantastic dolls. <br />
<br />
First, we came up with Milly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkXBmNAYbLU9I-K7z2Na7kacKD8pAO3Sp18YIzvHYL_-l2uKzm2j47QIe8A7JlqYQS99bKcLINbxWnPJjmWAG2ym_Ra3MbKlMCih4G0i5mJhiZiZKOzOwkS4E9ohUlvtWBMnwTQOIYKf_0/s1600/IMG_4862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkXBmNAYbLU9I-K7z2Na7kacKD8pAO3Sp18YIzvHYL_-l2uKzm2j47QIe8A7JlqYQS99bKcLINbxWnPJjmWAG2ym_Ra3MbKlMCih4G0i5mJhiZiZKOzOwkS4E9ohUlvtWBMnwTQOIYKf_0/s320/IMG_4862.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Milly's dress just slays me. The bugs! So cute! Milly has (I believe) just met her little girl this week. I hope they're fast friends!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Yc7SNfJUZh3V3U5n-kRLreJSYS8j6wIFAfFdbRjAKDNQTxnHOk6D8ksSxV838zmoAPt4NAwZi-8NZPbxG4rqUh5XayBl37dcFUuOU1zaD8FN64vmuMbVKCyPfPZw1EkaZx-YlGHbA9Ef/s1600/IMG_4863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Yc7SNfJUZh3V3U5n-kRLreJSYS8j6wIFAfFdbRjAKDNQTxnHOk6D8ksSxV838zmoAPt4NAwZi-8NZPbxG4rqUh5XayBl37dcFUuOU1zaD8FN64vmuMbVKCyPfPZw1EkaZx-YlGHbA9Ef/s320/IMG_4863.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
After Milly, we turned our collective attention to doll #2 -- Teagan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0seFMpAGbOSSJky76GW9c5NR3e3ZkDBMVkAo2A7qTV8R57r5HLuH65OpjlHydxHYVMqYfXcCtKrY_XoseojNjWiunGv9odgTIHigyTsENcmdtydK6WZxREcWEBySA4dB6G3nCwikN2YuK/s1600/IMG_4922.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0seFMpAGbOSSJky76GW9c5NR3e3ZkDBMVkAo2A7qTV8R57r5HLuH65OpjlHydxHYVMqYfXcCtKrY_XoseojNjWiunGv9odgTIHigyTsENcmdtydK6WZxREcWEBySA4dB6G3nCwikN2YuK/s320/IMG_4922.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Teagan is going to a bigger girl, so she's actually got TWO outfits. One is her rainbow dress,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKgEpRrdoZqf_MwiazweI28UPYPpJ5is_uRe6sKcczeNTuv518_QcmQnrpYpi0ZlDvGuTFXiUj2ytl1Z-Rg2mxglMasQnWIlKhghbMrynqKwRrGb3bNz4QACr1nU2A57Zn-_XfFf8Kg9P-/s1600/IMG_4923.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKgEpRrdoZqf_MwiazweI28UPYPpJ5is_uRe6sKcczeNTuv518_QcmQnrpYpi0ZlDvGuTFXiUj2ytl1Z-Rg2mxglMasQnWIlKhghbMrynqKwRrGb3bNz4QACr1nU2A57Zn-_XfFf8Kg9P-/s320/IMG_4923.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
and the other . . . .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA-FKunUm5l88uf5wzdswyoIfI3VM17CiTt-J1-8aOZTxkdN2E960xfJGShDcDV65-kY3-kvUP8yBIbuPLYOIyauSubhp3oHI9-Mk229gGZV8VnfNxrDOJAx7gEbplh3xWNRfQHZ5FbSCg/s1600/IMG_4901.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA-FKunUm5l88uf5wzdswyoIfI3VM17CiTt-J1-8aOZTxkdN2E960xfJGShDcDV65-kY3-kvUP8yBIbuPLYOIyauSubhp3oHI9-Mk229gGZV8VnfNxrDOJAx7gEbplh3xWNRfQHZ5FbSCg/s320/IMG_4901.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
. . . is this great mermaid costume! I think there will be many happy hours of play ahead for Teagan and Milly and their girls.<br />

Making Friends was mentioned, and linked in an <a href="http://www.whattoexpect.com/wom/baby/deciding-if-organic-baby-toys-are-worth-the-extra-money.aspx" target="_blank">online article about natural toys. </a><br />
<br />
Super! It took less than three days for my queue to fill to mid-April. I actually had to suspend custom orders of 10" jointed dolls, because the wait was getting out of hand. I like to aim for 8 weeks of waiting, maximum.<br />
<br />
With these orders, there has been a touch of drama (why is all the red hair coloured yarn in the world suddenly synthetic? I shouldn't have to look so long and hard for this!), and a whole lot of fun and excitement. Just last night, I finished a really adorable little girl doll. I think she's absolutely perfect. This is Bea:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4rC_OwO-03PQ4eRjHsDcnByEv5fGOBOCeJ78ft2ssv0JQjjPNd5_ZXlwH4jB19n2a8_Hx9suh0jjfGnD6dBrHOukl1kgpDRot6SBqmOmsDIH6T6L-S4D5EVns-Eda9PHmJiuKmDXIwEHb/s1600/IMG_4883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4rC_OwO-03PQ4eRjHsDcnByEv5fGOBOCeJ78ft2ssv0JQjjPNd5_ZXlwH4jB19n2a8_Hx9suh0jjfGnD6dBrHOukl1kgpDRot6SBqmOmsDIH6T6L-S4D5EVns-Eda9PHmJiuKmDXIwEHb/s320/IMG_4883.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Bea is short for Beatrix. It means bringer of happiness. I couldn't imagine a better name!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEdWwp2EiJ2Qn0Q2J-8kDdsBRSQ9SdP412c9P29C9ZuT0WULUEEPVKXDSsS_76N9Eme1Tl-xpOYlM23hHmVo4F-GPOxdjdPfgvEvwql2Wd2CevVz1b2W3k3LmTrujnB1lZAXrLzQMd9n8X/s1600/IMG_4882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEdWwp2EiJ2Qn0Q2J-8kDdsBRSQ9SdP412c9P29C9ZuT0WULUEEPVKXDSsS_76N9Eme1Tl-xpOYlM23hHmVo4F-GPOxdjdPfgvEvwql2Wd2CevVz1b2W3k3LmTrujnB1lZAXrLzQMd9n8X/s320/IMG_4882.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Bea will be joining her new family soon. I'm sure she and her little girl will be great friends. And I bet Bea gets to have the most exciting adventures ever!<br />
<br />
Heading out with Bea is this little baby dragon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ4RiPWXKozRzOYKw7DbJSlFvFXYGIt67HCVPS7GEyaLq6g3-2nAXysEzkijb05fsjtZmEcYd68quLU4q1OHlPHx9-8MunmtgHltQ0QaDJS9WQZAAGznK3b_7SG756MJYa8h5Y_LVkQKgf/s1600/IMG_4888.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ4RiPWXKozRzOYKw7DbJSlFvFXYGIt67HCVPS7GEyaLq6g3-2nAXysEzkijb05fsjtZmEcYd68quLU4q1OHlPHx9-8MunmtgHltQ0QaDJS9WQZAAGznK3b_7SG756MJYa8h5Y_LVkQKgf/s320/IMG_4888.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
He's stuffed with wool, making him an all-natural playmate for a very special little boy. And there's something special about this dragon, too! He has a heart.<br />
Little C has a heart murmur. His dragon has a heart in his chest too. They are both brave and strong fellows with big hearts. I've been really honoured to make these 2 incredibly personal, meaningful toys for 2 really amazing littles. Thanks for making me part of that, K! <br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKz1NURYru7b3AphLGkuTCUUwiB1dWSLFXkhnmH-zhaE-6CpFrJAvfRZxUSJuACK2ntZlf7WZF1AjpcDDNVj12QwL3it5q9mUXG91JV3DpO9Xbb-CD-gnOEuHVsexK5UrY4hG05L6PfnC5/s1600/mosaic9530a083caa5afcfdc12a0e1baca6bc679b129c0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKz1NURYru7b3AphLGkuTCUUwiB1dWSLFXkhnmH-zhaE-6CpFrJAvfRZxUSJuACK2ntZlf7WZF1AjpcDDNVj12QwL3it5q9mUXG91JV3DpO9Xbb-CD-gnOEuHVsexK5UrY4hG05L6PfnC5/s320/mosaic9530a083caa5afcfdc12a0e1baca6bc679b129c0.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I now have 3 similar-ish skin tones in my repertoire. There's fair, which you can see in the left column. Sunny is in the middle. Peachy is on the right.<br />
<br />
So now I'm faced with a decision - do I keep peachy, or cut it from the roster? I think having choice is great -- but peachy skin can look orange if it's not paired with exactly the right hair and eyes. It's a bit of a delicate balance, and can be a real challenge. <br />
<br />Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-86002999694602085402013-01-22T11:08:00.000-05:002013-01-22T11:10:07.032-05:00Sunny SkyeLast Wednesday was a big, exciting day around here. It had the potential to be a sad, stressful day - Thursday was my return to (corporate) work date - but instead . . . THINGS happened!<br />
First, Making Friends got <a href="http://www.whattoexpect.com/wom/baby/deciding-if-organic-baby-toys-are-worth-the-extra-money.aspx#" target="_blank">a mention in an article</a>. Amazing! Then, my long-awaited new skin tones arrived in the mail! I was so excited to see them that I pulled a muscle in my neck craning to see the postal van in my driveway.<br />
<br />
As a testament to my excitement, I couldn't even wait to get started on a new, sunny-skinned doll. And so Sunny Skye came to be.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJuDlschhJRferaePtXMGLHJOWW2uW_ELkqUGj1o3qJwB1Ol1_qAksPM9a56tXiUS3OrUWvMagnGLE7hNouJvFPH6NDFlz8HB-npHdu2Bzrx5NXnc9jfo6lC5rV3VqA2A6822mFucz3TyS/s1600/IMG_4803.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJuDlschhJRferaePtXMGLHJOWW2uW_ELkqUGj1o3qJwB1Ol1_qAksPM9a56tXiUS3OrUWvMagnGLE7hNouJvFPH6NDFlz8HB-npHdu2Bzrx5NXnc9jfo6lC5rV3VqA2A6822mFucz3TyS/s320/IMG_4803.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've been aching to make a striped rainbow doll for quite a while now. I love doing custom work - I really do. Bringing a customer's vision to life, delighting children and their parents. It's really rewarding - but there's something to be said for having the space to be creative and just do whatever I want, too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi5mm62i34ka6B7yXw-HYyXRo91RvlsscYPuEUF2F2VINtTKaaVOzsmMEr4qttpz3IBZqTFb8KWB-g9RI_0bEKcz4MWLpsFYAsycpTYv_H8hUuBf6kMaMZf7uKQL-OB9Dd4or-mmyGl4l9/s1600/IMG_4797.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi5mm62i34ka6B7yXw-HYyXRo91RvlsscYPuEUF2F2VINtTKaaVOzsmMEr4qttpz3IBZqTFb8KWB-g9RI_0bEKcz4MWLpsFYAsycpTYv_H8hUuBf6kMaMZf7uKQL-OB9Dd4or-mmyGl4l9/s320/IMG_4797.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the way Sunny turned out<b><i> so much</i></b> that her photo shoot took extra long. I had to stop and play with her between shots. HAD to.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGscBzmusL4vY7OqFETdzHTjxfo2aBofkS6gR5ODcxy5SChdkzxZSxQGt5kT2Sv08Zzp1fKSY5iwOqqQY-AeDHwnatmiBk-VdpA2yL-kaZQGZDxo31qRglvjFp3hISQQ6dGtnLg33Ae0G1/s1600/IMG_4794.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGscBzmusL4vY7OqFETdzHTjxfo2aBofkS6gR5ODcxy5SChdkzxZSxQGt5kT2Sv08Zzp1fKSY5iwOqqQY-AeDHwnatmiBk-VdpA2yL-kaZQGZDxo31qRglvjFp3hISQQ6dGtnLg33Ae0G1/s320/IMG_4794.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Seriously. The pig-tails<i> had</i> to happen.<br />
I love the buttons on the back of the shirt. They are purely decorative, but they really up the cuteness factor of the shirt, I think.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAYuSkAJfWT2v8lXlEEC_ApWhyphenhyphenKhkWATsPQ5yOLE3mDz-9ORShCK5qLMd2LM7JxA6xLcuoSk6O4RfHvm0HEoKRO7qJZT0yNWdrCYgo7u4MPjZaoZ8RML23Zl8269RMjLVrQ8mR-hDYs1k5/s1600/IMG_4793.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAYuSkAJfWT2v8lXlEEC_ApWhyphenhyphenKhkWATsPQ5yOLE3mDz-9ORShCK5qLMd2LM7JxA6xLcuoSk6O4RfHvm0HEoKRO7qJZT0yNWdrCYgo7u4MPjZaoZ8RML23Zl8269RMjLVrQ8mR-hDYs1k5/s320/IMG_4793.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Sunny is <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/121294970/sunny-skye-a-10-waldorf-doll-ready-to" target="_blank">available for purchase on Etsy</a>. She's going to make a great best friend for someone lucky!<br />

<br />
First there was Mandy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLqNvJyQVjwPvnAxi4A7tUQs-LWsjTQhCODG2V9WkZeCYfHPnajkovp3-L4MbnEJxN5bZgteRjPvktzi5uG3HtDxyDxhR0IdVddUAbi9ntQDnal0pWUKuyS2uxR7J5xHK8q8wbxcqQxNVT/s1600/IMG_4764.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLqNvJyQVjwPvnAxi4A7tUQs-LWsjTQhCODG2V9WkZeCYfHPnajkovp3-L4MbnEJxN5bZgteRjPvktzi5uG3HtDxyDxhR0IdVddUAbi9ntQDnal0pWUKuyS2uxR7J5xHK8q8wbxcqQxNVT/s320/IMG_4764.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
She's just adorable. I really love the strawberry blonde colour of her hair, and her starry shirt. <br />
Here's what her new bff/momma thinks of her:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
"She is in serious dolly adoration mode but so far, Mandy is her current
favorite. I always ask her who she wants to take to bed with her and
she’s taken her new doll both nights." </blockquote>
Awww! That's so awesome to hear! <br />
<br />
Next there was Katy:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiadDv-BMJ-UEPONP__youLvLSA0Ohe2XR2s4qddsBWdnP6Z7YoqZDFaNtT5VuTMylxHR7XyJV6D3EcMnmGaTFEqjgAaGFztLcupCBIGk41bni11f30fZPGxTbG9O2WlGFCRNRNKYH5Z6M/s1600/IMG_4775.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiadDv-BMJ-UEPONP__youLvLSA0Ohe2XR2s4qddsBWdnP6Z7YoqZDFaNtT5VuTMylxHR7XyJV6D3EcMnmGaTFEqjgAaGFztLcupCBIGk41bni11f30fZPGxTbG9O2WlGFCRNRNKYH5Z6M/s320/IMG_4775.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Katy is still in transit, so I can't tell you how she went over just yet . . . but the colours on this girl . . . DANG! She's so fun and cheerful! I can't, for even one minute, imagine that she won't be hit. <br />
<br />
Sadly, I didn't get to see many pics of kids enjoying their new dolls and toys - but I DID get lots of messages telling me how they were well-received, well-loved, and about the bonds they are forming with their children. Thanks to those of you who took the time to write. You make me smile!<br />
Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-7892591376769802132012-12-28T21:55:00.001-05:002012-12-28T21:55:07.077-05:002012 draws to a closeWell, we're just about to recycle another calendar. It's kind of hard to believe that another year has passed - it went so fast!<br />
<br />
It helped that this was the busiest holiday season Making Friends has experienced. I made and shipped roughly 35 holiday/new baby/birthday gift dolls and toys in the last 3 months. Here's the handful I made since the last post!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjslxggBUYEXKje9EKJ95uFN4tt8qq_6inYPsuskkqlBYBsiun6fzyWYMHMGgckrhy-9E4AqPgVE3tOsA7dMKtflq9WKjcvAejgYCMf4hqm2EVCu8-HO24hQ7lg8E_Qg9PadbvKSgfC2Huj/s1600/IMG_4270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjslxggBUYEXKje9EKJ95uFN4tt8qq_6inYPsuskkqlBYBsiun6fzyWYMHMGgckrhy-9E4AqPgVE3tOsA7dMKtflq9WKjcvAejgYCMf4hqm2EVCu8-HO24hQ7lg8E_Qg9PadbvKSgfC2Huj/s320/IMG_4270.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Trina - a 10" custom order. Her hair was so luxe, it about killed me to send her away!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK9o1J-SU8WxphutZKWA1lhdnPZMNLnik1vWbX3P_1MT4IRwCSVcXbRY942neAYw9oXXWTTTHcsLrpbzV2U3NwU7sPmnRLcNz1X6ue6GLGTzgmsg4g4i0AkTCjo_BQ7ENi8Yzko-8aaR3L/s1600/IMG_4245.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK9o1J-SU8WxphutZKWA1lhdnPZMNLnik1vWbX3P_1MT4IRwCSVcXbRY942neAYw9oXXWTTTHcsLrpbzV2U3NwU7sPmnRLcNz1X6ue6GLGTzgmsg4g4i0AkTCjo_BQ7ENi8Yzko-8aaR3L/s320/IMG_4245.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
I put the finishing touches on this guy, and Boober instantly claimed him.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is Jack-Jack, a 10" custom order. Apparently his little boy is really excited about him!<br />
<br />

<br />
A last-minute sheep, custom ordered for Christmas<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A super adorable pair of dragons ordered for a sibling pair. I loved these fabrics and would make them again in a heart-beat!<br />

<br />
And these last two are things I made for my kids. Sweet Pea got a shaggy black lamb for Christmas. Boober got a monkey for his birthday. They went over pretty well. Boober sleeps with his monkey on one side, and his trusty doll George on the other side.<br />
<br />
2013 holds a few unknowns for Making Friends. I'm considering switching up some of the skin tone fabrics I've been using for Waldorf dolls, and looking into some new suppliers. There are things in the works that I'm just not ready to discuss yet. All in good time, right?<br />
<br />Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-14609923844244905682012-11-28T12:45:00.002-05:002012-11-28T12:45:42.765-05:00Annnnd . . . . TIME!It was 11:58 this morning when Boober decided it was time for his nap, so I was a little late in drawing our winning raffle entry. I am pleased to announce that KATE CLARK has won Moe! I'm just waiting to hear from Kate with a shipping address, and Moe will be on his way home.<br />
<br />
I am also super pleased, thrilled even, to announce that the raffle of Moe raised $80 in donations to movember.com. I've already submitted the donation, and would be sharing the receipt here with you, except that all my info is printed on it. I like you all and everything, but I prefer to keep my home address, full name and such off the internet. If you feel very strongly that you need to see the receipt, then let me know, and I'll figure out how to do that blurry thing.<br />
<br />
Congratulations Kate, and thank you to each and every one of you who bought a ticket! Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-40189972388861883552012-11-26T16:49:00.000-05:002012-11-26T16:49:06.181-05:00Catching up - NOVEMBER edition??Wow - time sure has a way of flying by.<br />
<br />
So apparently it's the end of November. I'm not too worried. I have 2 orders left to do and get into the mail before December 10, then 2 items to make for local delivery . . . and then it's all about my kids! This year I'd like to give Boober a monkey, and Sweet Pea a lamb. Last year they didn't get anything hand-made from momma, and I felt pretty guilty. I even had to go so far as to purchase Boober a Wadorf doll - and I admit I felt silly doing it. Glad to support another doll-maker, but silly. <br />
<br />
Here's what I've been up to since the last post:<br />

Whew! No wonder I'm so tired! <br />
<br />
And let's not forget Moe -- I made him up this past month too! Raffle entries are still being accepted - don't miss out. <br />
Moe is helping me out.<br />
You see, I've never been a fan of Movember. Many of the gentlemen I know use Movember as an excuse to grow a nasty, greasy, unkempt beard/mustache -- but they don't use it the way it's meant to be used!! They don't register, or ask for donations, or what have you. This has always made me slightly crazy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZGRJ1NBzBY2-Bc9taAdjhyphenhyphenFzS-MYFKldRIy42AF213JqWiiYDPsjHDFPqzfkmgwkHLIQ5DN82el3ArBM9YZxvi3WvFZrGMhbEtnT3JWtWFTNqJuAZusZV000r_pmhgZdPfT3h96_obaQX/s1600/IMG_4217.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZGRJ1NBzBY2-Bc9taAdjhyphenhyphenFzS-MYFKldRIy42AF213JqWiiYDPsjHDFPqzfkmgwkHLIQ5DN82el3ArBM9YZxvi3WvFZrGMhbEtnT3JWtWFTNqJuAZusZV000r_pmhgZdPfT3h96_obaQX/s320/IMG_4217.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This year, I know a fellow who is growing a <i>brilliant</i> mustache for Movember. I looked him up, and he's registered - he's doing it right! This inspires me. I wish I could partake in some way, and so I have crafted Moe to wear brilliant mustaches for me!!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
And this is where you come in. Moe will be offered via raffle -- and just in time for Christmas! Here's how it works. Click the buy it now button at the bottom of this post to buy a raffle ticket for Moe - just $3! You can enter more than once, if you'd like. In fact, I encourage it! The raffle will close on November 28 at noon EST. At that time, I will draw the winner from the entries, and the money raised will be donated via movember.com. Moe will be shipped to the winner by end of day November 30 - so he should be there in time for the holidays!<br />

Cool, right?<br />
Moe's mustaches are removable, and interchangeable. They're held in place with velcro. Moe comes with his airplane diaper, and all 4 mustaches you see in this post.<br />

I've been working long hours on holiday orders for many deserving children, welcome gifts for upcoming babies, and birthday presents for little ones. With the kids, I've been puddle stomping, leaf jumping, and prepping the yard and our wardrobes for winter. We've had playdates and long walks, done a lot of reading, learning, and worked on some development. I'm absolutely loving life these days. I cannot adequately express my gratitude for the opportunity to stay home with my little ones this year. I'm so lucky.<br />
<br />
Since I last updated (cringe - 6 weeks ago, now), I've completed another pile of cuties. <br />

And this sheep has gone to his family, not too far from here!Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07254560139132601529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742966236285302246.post-6289867841134773632012-09-12T15:09:00.001-04:002012-09-12T15:09:43.498-04:00I've got good news, and bad news . . . Let's start with the bad news. I heard back from the Stitch N' Kitsch Collective re: their winter show -- there is no space for Making Friends as a guest artist at this year's show. I can't say that I'm not disappointed - of course I'm feeling a little let down. But . . . it is what it is. No hard feelings, I'll still apply in the future. They just had a lot more applications than spaces. <br />
<br />
The good news? More time and materials for <i>your</i> orders! I had a lot of spots reserved for show items - now I can release the items I have already finished, and use my time to make the things as they're ordered.<br />

This is the last month's productivity. (Can that be right?? There's so much there!) Most of it was custom ordered, or has already been spoken for - but some of it will be going into the Etsy shop over the next few weeks. If you're considering a custom order, now is the perfect time. If you like something you see here, shoot me a message, or check the shop frequently.<br />

<br />
This adorable little lamb baby is one of the best things I ever stumbled across. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxFdeDqvI5PR0Jlm8itXRr9XrKsLBdieizjsW0VSDMSCXaqyL46AEtHlAqR8Ox9xB6IeLQdDHh-H3Qvr3h3QdHfsbcRGmAUupvOPBptnniYLVketLlzJeNOA2AAFQbyvoSt_dW3g4P213q/s1600/IMG_3409.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxFdeDqvI5PR0Jlm8itXRr9XrKsLBdieizjsW0VSDMSCXaqyL46AEtHlAqR8Ox9xB6IeLQdDHh-H3Qvr3h3QdHfsbcRGmAUupvOPBptnniYLVketLlzJeNOA2AAFQbyvoSt_dW3g4P213q/s320/IMG_3409.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
For those of you who are intermediate - advanced level artists with a sewing machine, this pattern is absolutely worth the time and effort. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlBMyCOXplgm3eP7HNMzAutalvb5RWM_yyVQBhJJUfpIM_WvMA-2VahGo-a_x9Wk4SWJcS-ZU0SC6jNLySMb7a7hjaMJCH4qhZFMVjHRD1dtRWiaQTmSSit-vWP7R6FIFBZIiD6c9NKLAQ/s1600/IMG_3382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlBMyCOXplgm3eP7HNMzAutalvb5RWM_yyVQBhJJUfpIM_WvMA-2VahGo-a_x9Wk4SWJcS-ZU0SC6jNLySMb7a7hjaMJCH4qhZFMVjHRD1dtRWiaQTmSSit-vWP7R6FIFBZIiD6c9NKLAQ/s320/IMG_3382.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I say intermediate - advanced level not because the pattern is exceptionally difficult, but because it assumes a lot. There is no hand holding taking place with this pattern, and there really doesn't need to be -- but if you're the type of person who wants to know exactly how many inches down the body to tie off the head, you'll be pretty frustrated with this one. If you're the type of person who likes to tackle a pattern and make it your own, you'll ADORE this pattern. <br />
<br />

<br />
I, for one, loved making this lamb. I foresee many, many more in my future.<br />

I'm busy enough right now that I've closed rush custom orders and I'm currently taking orders for delivery in October. <br />
<br />
Allow me to share with you my last 2 custom Waldorf orders - shipped in the last 2 weeks.<br />
<br />
The sad thing for me about a rush job is that I don't really get time to get to know the dolls, bond with them, really fall in love with them. But then I remind myself that it's not important how I feel about the doll (beyond being able to take pride in my work), what's important is how the kid/adult getting the doll feels about it. <br />
Here's Lola. She was ordered on Monday evening, and shipped on Thursday. How's that for a speedy turn-around time??<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUK11XtpEPruAfKERaS82TccvHSm01O7HQXABJgayUJ8kaLZTl-wCjGfZZf-hbUYJ1r2SOQSZVWdm47bfctcVW4tKAKhy3SUzuE7I421N2M-hsSuNfRFDbVpmXyhHZKGssphSffqN_1G89/s1600/IMG_3105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUK11XtpEPruAfKERaS82TccvHSm01O7HQXABJgayUJ8kaLZTl-wCjGfZZf-hbUYJ1r2SOQSZVWdm47bfctcVW4tKAKhy3SUzuE7I421N2M-hsSuNfRFDbVpmXyhHZKGssphSffqN_1G89/s320/IMG_3105.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
With a rush order, I have to work with whatever I have on hand -- so that's one VERY good thing about them! There's no time to just wander through the fabric store, or to visit the yarn shop -- which is good, because I have a plethora of amazing fabrics and yarns already. Look at Lola's hair -- isn't it fabulous? I had that yarn just waiting for the right doll. I might never have used it for fear of not having it on hand anymore (sounds silly when I put it in words) but Lola needed curly blonde hair. And here we are :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGH9VmO29i2JK2TdBntmYfwVi6XCD1k4KNVjnmtZ-2iiFMf12iNUfHrTQmRyiSWp6rZRI2vcvgSkLUsC0AaIq2tl-6eElgzYfFGaPJdcz9ScAm7R_8kfxWAvbvYfmBCNUblFNBWkGgs3Ia/s1600/IMG_3111.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGH9VmO29i2JK2TdBntmYfwVi6XCD1k4KNVjnmtZ-2iiFMf12iNUfHrTQmRyiSWp6rZRI2vcvgSkLUsC0AaIq2tl-6eElgzYfFGaPJdcz9ScAm7R_8kfxWAvbvYfmBCNUblFNBWkGgs3Ia/s320/IMG_3111.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Then there was Carolyn. I was contacted by a mom with a little girl
having a birthday in late August. She knew she had left it to the last
minute, but did I think I could possibly complete a rush order for her
daughter's birthday? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEEsBvT-pPBvA1te1iUFeJUYpqmbOWXokIsm2tzhMAwbSwAteQ__i8sVcpS_2BZ-IyuMN-vJ0kwinG_Apy9S8kbwdH-aW7Rv3XEFTd_Lx2X5lqgUBLJ-MUaDfjxpbbCM5V6Wci6YjG4QJ8/s1600/IMG_3344.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEEsBvT-pPBvA1te1iUFeJUYpqmbOWXokIsm2tzhMAwbSwAteQ__i8sVcpS_2BZ-IyuMN-vJ0kwinG_Apy9S8kbwdH-aW7Rv3XEFTd_Lx2X5lqgUBLJ-MUaDfjxpbbCM5V6Wci6YjG4QJ8/s320/IMG_3344.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ordered on Monday, shipped on Friday. This one was more of a challenge - there's a lot of hand-work on this body style! Couple that with the fact that I don't usually have black hair yarn on hand . . . I actually had to raid my knitting stash for this one, so there are some premium, fancy-shmancy yarns on this doll's head.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFOX33Oo2xKqKWBYlddhE93v4xX_d6gjTGUz24Y8nulZtHaRH-Ec6p6wsD2wuCuPA2Exz2BxnR_hhC5M3j_C-UxdSOHG8KkfYeCYL2WUZ1y6iHE1gBvyozk0afLScIHRIFWSgzVL32lwuW/s1600/IMG_3352.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFOX33Oo2xKqKWBYlddhE93v4xX_d6gjTGUz24Y8nulZtHaRH-Ec6p6wsD2wuCuPA2Exz2BxnR_hhC5M3j_C-UxdSOHG8KkfYeCYL2WUZ1y6iHE1gBvyozk0afLScIHRIFWSgzVL32lwuW/s320/IMG_3352.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And her dress fabric is one of those "I can't use this! I'll run out" things again. It's pretty perfect on Carolyn though, don't you think?<br />
And yes, I totally ran out. And I'm fine with that. There's a whole bin of gorgeous fabrics here waiting to be used.<br />
<br />
It would seem I neglected to share this adorable baby dragon with you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-MD1lvJao0Vaath0XNfaIROTLr2_uAE81DZZgv8D2kVgovn5oELnRmALQ_NQFm_vEdDw8pQHkI_wETjGXsma9tYVN1iuJezDqxXnVbk2gaTg5QjErSuEiLkW9T6Il5FZTB6WtVyGzbx0Z/s1600/IMG_3072.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-MD1lvJao0Vaath0XNfaIROTLr2_uAE81DZZgv8D2kVgovn5oELnRmALQ_NQFm_vEdDw8pQHkI_wETjGXsma9tYVN1iuJezDqxXnVbk2gaTg5QjErSuEiLkW9T6Il5FZTB6WtVyGzbx0Z/s320/IMG_3072.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This one is all natural. Stuffed with wool, made with cotton fabrics, and some lamb . . . I love her little snout. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Apparently Boober approves of baby dragons. One of these days I'll show you the behind the scenes images from a Making Friends photo shoot.<br />
<br />
There are lots more baby dragons coming. Stay tuned for more images! I have lots more to show and share. <br />
